Kirstin A. Carey
Communications, Tactics and Presentation Skills Expert

Kirstin Carey is President of Orange Tree Training & Speaking Group, Inc. Her company trains and coaches professionals to improve their communications and presentation skills, with programs developed for CEO’s, managers, trainers, and staff to perform more effectively in sales, marketing, customer service, and training.

The trainers in her company work with clients that include AAMCO, Crozer-Keystone Healthcare Systems, the International Trade Exchange, the National Basketball Association (NBA), and the Social Security Administration (SSA).

Kirstin has a B.A. in Speech Communications, from West Chester University, and has been speaking to audiences for over a decade. She is an adjunct Professor at Penn State University, Great Valley Campus and a former Club President of Toastmasters International, an active member of the Main Line Chamber of Commerce, the Association of Women in Communications (AWC), and the National Speakers' Association (NSA).

Some Q&A

Q: What was your first job?
A: I started babysitting jobs at age 10, first official job was working at the snack bar at a community pool at age 13.

Q: What one book do you recommend that others read?
A: "Rich Dad, Poor Dad". The concepts in the book give you a different perspective on how money works for you. I wish I had learned of these concepts before and hope that one day they be taught in school.

Q: What business skill do you consider to be important, but often underestimated?
A: Effective communication. Most problems in business stem from miscommunication, If we learn how to effectively get our point across, these problems wouldn't exist.

Q: What do you know now that you wish you had known 10 years ago?
A: How the little things matter and how often what we perceive as big things aren't really that important.

Q: What key habit has contributed to your success?
A: Networking, I seek-out and associate with successful people, to learn their habits and what makes them successful.

Q: What is the most important lesson you have learned?
A: Everybody knows somebody that can impact you somehow.

Q: What do you find yourself doing that you said you would "never" do?
A: The one thing Kirstin said she would "never" do, is act like her parents, but finds herself doing just that very frequently.

Q: How do you spend your spare time?
A: When my husband Tom, an entrepreneur, and I aren't working on improving our companies, we enjoy spending time remodeling our 100-year-old home, purchasing and fixing up destressed properties, or training our mix-breed puppy, Coal.
