U.S. Axle Inc., a privately held Pottstown manufacturer of axels, shafts, and other parts for the automotive, mining, and drilling industries, has promoted Kenneth R. Krauss to president and chief operating officer. A 25-year veteran of the company, he started as a machinist and most recently was vice president, operations.

Premier Research Group Ltd., a Philadelphia provider of clinical-development support to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical-device industries, has hired Hua Gong as executive director of medical diagnostics. Gong was the associate director, medical diagnostics at Prometheus Therapeutics & Diagnostics and principal scientist, oncology exploratory biology at Pfizer Inc.

Susan C. Stansfield was named executive vice president, clinical development. She had been executive vice president, product registration - Europe, Asia Pacific, Africa, at PRA International.

Good Shepherd Penn Partners has named Lisa Marsilio executive director. She had been vice president of the cardiopulmonary/complex medical service line at Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network, Allentown, and administrator of the Good Shepherd Specialty Hospital.

Staci M. Warsaw has been hired as vice president of transitional services for the Madlyn and Leonard Abramson Center for Jewish Life, a nonprofit provider of services to seniors. She had been executive director of Hospice Compassus in Willow Grove.

Barclay Water Management Inc. has named Janna R. Cohen district manager for the Mid-Atlantic states, in South Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, northern Virginia, and Washington, D.C. She was sales team manager for Ashland Water Technologies.

Absorption Systems L.P., an Exton company that helps pharmaceutical and medical-device companies understand possible drug interactions, has promoted Sid Bhoopathy to chief operating officer from vice president of operations.

Comcast Corp., Philadelphia, has named Neil Smit chief executive officer of Comcast Cable Communications L.C.C. Smit, who serves as president of Comcast Cable and is responsible for all aspects of the company's cable business, joined Comcast in March 2010.

Raúl Valentín has been hired as vice president of talent acquisition, responsible for enterprise-wide talent acquisition operations and strategy for the cable division. Valentín had been vice president of global recruitment and rewards at Covance Inc., a biopharmaceutical development-services company. The Judge Group Inc., a Philadelphia staffing firm, said Brian T. Anderson had been promoted from chief sales officer to president of The Judge Group, North America.

Globus Medical Inc., a privately held maker of spinal implants in Audubon, Montgomery County, has hired David Veino as vice president of marketing and Tom Kennedy as vice president of surgeon relations and education. Veino had been global director of sales and marketing for the Interventional Spine division of Stryker. Kennedy had been vice president of professional affairs and medical education for Smith & Nephew P.L.C.'s biologics and clinical therapies division.

Elizabeth Housholder has been hired as assistant dean of civic engagement at Widener University. She had been program director for leadership development at Temple University.

Steven Poulathas has been elected shareholder at Flaster/Greenberg P.C., Cherry Hill. Poulathas counsels and represents individuals, family-owned businesses, and public companies in the tax, business and finance, and estate practice areas.

Robert R. Kugler has been elected by the national board of directors of the American Cancer Society to serve as secretary of the volunteer health organization. Additionally, he has been elected chairman of the board of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, the society's advocacy affiliate. Kugler is a partner at Archer & Greiner P.C. and former chairman of the firm's real estate department.

William F. Hyland Jr. has been named to the board of trustees of the Virtua Foundation, a nonprofit group that raises funds that support capital improvements, patient care, and community education and outreach programs for Virtua Health System. He is a partner with Hyland Levin L.L.P., Marlton.

The Partnership for the Delaware Estuary, a nonprofit national estuary program serving portions of Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, has named Charnelle Hicks chairwoman. She is president and founder of CHPlanning Ltd., Philadelphia.

Fulton Financial Corp., a Lancaster-based financial-holding company, has elected Albert Morrison 3d to its board. He is chairman and chief executive officer of Burnham Holdings Inc.

Elwyn, the Media human-services agency, has elected Joan Emmi to its board. She most recently was a board member and president of the board of the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House, a member of The Old Eagle School, and served on several committees of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

American Jewish Committee, a nonprofit organization, has elected the following members to its board: Rachel Berman, sales manager at Hotel Palomar, Philadelphia; Bonnie Freundlich, past president of Freundlich Associates, Philadelphia; Morris Gocial, a partner at Gold, Gocial, Gerstein L.L.C., and past president of the American-Israel Chamber of Commerce; and Fred Strober, a real estate lawyer and partner at Saul Ewing L.L.P., Philadelphia.

Ilene Warner-Maron, president of Alden Geriatric Consultants Inc. and of the Institute for Continuing Education and Research at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, has been inducted as a fellow in the College of Physicians of Philadelphia. Founded in 1787, the college is the nation's oldest professional medical organization.

Kelly McGann, marketing director at McCormick Taylor Inc., has been appointed chair of the Philadelphia chapter of the Society for Marketing Professional Services.

The Arthritis Foundation, Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter, a nonprofit health-advocacy organization, has elected the following to its board: Joseph W. Devine, senior vice president of Kennedy Health System; Ray Pennacchia, senior vice president of NovaCare Rehabilitation; and Mike Silver, a partner at Silver & Silver.

The Fairmount Park Conservancy, the primary private-sector fund-raiser for Fairmount Park, has appointed Daniel Phelan to its board. Phelan is the senior adviser to the CEO at GlaxoSmithKline P.L.C.
